When I saw early developments on a Wordpress client for the Blackberry, I was instantly very excited. Although I'm a loyal Blogger user, I do have some sites that run on wordpress and even some forums running on bbpress.

The idea of updating my site on my Blackberry always seems to make sense to me.The blackberry is just the perfect phone for typing something. Who else spends more time on perfecting their keypad designs but RIM.

Going back to the Wordpress client, the moment you install it on your phone, you will have to setup your hosting details, either your hosted on a wordpress domain or your you have Wordpress installed on your domain. Setup is very easy and straight forward, enter your URL, username and password.

After this you can now compose new post and even upload pictures. The client also has some handy comment moderation, so now you can through them where ever you may be.

Overall the wordpress client works great I do notice it to be a bit slower on the Pearl and the Curve compared to Bold. It works great on the Storm and I love the landscape mode.

Skydeck is a free online backup software that safely backups your address book to a remote server manage by Skydeck. This utility also can backup a copy of your SMS messages and call history.
As soon as you install Skydeck, you have to make an online account which you will then later use to access your account using your computer's browser. As soon as you sync or backup online you can edit you contacts as if you were doing it on your phone, since they update each other it makes updating your contacts easy and more comfortable.
You can turn skydeck off to save on data transfer or if you just want to backup on a specific time. Overall I love how Skydeck manages to sync properly with my Curve no errors or multiple contacts problems. I find it very easy to manage and make changes in my contacts logging into Skydeck's website.

HP to Release a Windows Mobile Smartphone

A recent article by The Wall Street Journal reports that HP will soon release a new smartphone. It isn’t clear whether the new phone will be iPaq-branded; what’s clear is that the new phone will be sold in retail stores to consumers rather than just to corporate users like before.

The new phone which is most probably the one codenamed HP Oak will feature a touch screen display, an alphanumeric keypad, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The phone will run on Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system and, just like any other smartphone, can be used for emailing and surfing the net using HSDPA and WiFi. Target launch according to the slide above is September 2008, but obviously, the plan didn’t pan out. According to WSJ though, the HP Oak will debut in Europe within the next two months.
